No response from the Mayor yet

Mayor Ravenstahl, seen here driving a city snowplow in probable violation of union rules, has not yet responded to our request for a clarification of his views on contraception and associated issues. Since it has been a weekend and a working day and a half, I worry that he might not have gotten my message. I am sending it again, just in case. I also included my telephone number in case he is having e-mail troubles.

On the other hand, he might just think that I am picking on him. In one sense this is true: if he hadn’t been reputed to say that he doesn’t believe in contraception, or, as I am now hearing, that he does not belive that people who receive contraception from Planned Parenthood deserve protection from aggressive protesters, in keeping with his councilmanic votes on bubble laws, this would never have come up. On the other hand, no candidate should have to answer questions that his opponent does not.

I know that Bill “Glamour Shots” Peduto, seen here hitting on your sister, reads this weblog because I ran into him on Saturday morning and he told me so. I also know that he has my e-mail address.

So, Bill, I am inviting you to answer the questions I asked of Luke. I will give you the same deal I offered him: your responses will appear in full on this weblog, with no editing. Even if you do something like spell “contraception” wrong. I’m not saying you would, but fair warning.

Once Luke sees that there is nothing to fear, he will no doubt write in immediately.

As a reminder, here are the questions I asked:

Would you in any case support using city funds to provide contraception, possibly several thousand dollars?

What if the contraceptives were in City High Schools?

Middle schools?

Would you be inclined to treat different forms of contraception differently, condoms vs. hormonal birth control, for instance?

What if city money was used to provide HPV vaccines to city residents?

To provide education on the use of contraceptives?

To provide that education to minors?

Would you be opposed if the funds were provided through a slush fund outside the office of the Mayor, like the Neighborhood Needs Program?

Would you be opposed to any of these programs operating through the City Government, but with private funds?

Maybe you should set up a photo shoot with the mayor so that you can post a Photo captioned, “Mayor seen here posting response to hard-hitting political bloggist Mac Booker with flagrant disregard for spell check.”

    Laughable post at best.

Mayor Ravenstahl is clearly not driving a city snow plow in the above shot you provided. Last time I checked most of the vehichles in this country have a steering wheel on the left hand side of the vehichle.

Even if Mayor Ravenstahl was driving this truck, which he wasn’t, I doubt he was doing so with one of the truck doors wide open.

I am glad you were amused, Matt. I only wish my little joke had not been so funny that you laughed so hard you were unable to read past the sixth word. Perhaps one day, when you are in a less hysterical mood, you could come back and take in the rest.
