A turn for the absurd

Comfortable plebeian Rich Lord:

At the helm of an administration that’s seemed out of step, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has brought in his former high school athletic trainer to help whip things into shape.

I think that bears repeating:

At the helm of an administration that’s seemed out of step, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has brought in his former high school athletic trainer to help whip things into shape.

In the face of increasing questions about his integrity and competence, the young mayor compensates for his lack of experience by bringing in his athletic trainer from North Catholic as Director of Public Affairs.

Because city employees must live in the city, Mr. White’s new job necessitated a rapid move from Mars to Troy Hill.

I hope Mars got someone decent in trade for White. I suggest Eugene Hlavac.

Additionally:

After Mr. Ravenstahl graduated, the two remained close, often meeting to go running or golfing, Mr. White revealed in an October interview. A week before then-Mayor Bob O’Connor was hospitalized for the nervous system cancer that killed him, Mr. Ravenstahl and Mr. White were together on a golfing trip to Orlando, Fla.

White will be making about eighty-nine thousand dollars a year, which makes me think I really need to take the mayor golfing.

At least we know that Ravenstahl’s ACL will be well cared for.

Also returning will be two old Murphy staffers, which I think is a fine idea for the mayor. If his administration intends to crash and burn, they really should bring in some people with experience.
