The Office of New Pittsburghers?
I happened to be in Boston this weekend, and while riding their subway (behold the beauty that is urban light rail), I saw an ad for the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians. It’s basically a city department responsible for helping immigrants assimilate to the city, learn English, and do what they do best: start families, start businesses, and provide a heck of a lot of essential services. As I’ve noted before, I believe our city could do very well by trying to attract more immigrants, especially given our low cost of living and large elderly population. Might be something worth considering as we start through our latest commission’s attempts to bring more young folks here…
