Trial date set for Twanda

Pittsburgh Councilwoman Twanda Carlisle and her co-defendants are scheduled for trial on corruption charges before Allegheny County Judge John A. Zottola on Oct. 29.

The Allegheny County Investigating Grand Jury’s 17-count indictment alleged that the councilwoman 63 times since 2003 approved city checks totaling $101,480 to the alleged co-conspirators, in payment for little or no work. Ms. Carlisle then deposited smaller amounts in her bank accounts, over time shifting $38,310 to her personal account, and $4,850 to her campaign account, according to the grand jury.

That brought charges of theft by deception, criminal conspiracy, failure to file financial disclosures and violations of the state Ethics Act and Election Code. The other defendants face charges of theft by deception and conspiracy.

We could see Councilwoman Carlisle fulfilling the perverted dreams of many a mid-twentieth century drive-in heavy petter by the end of the year. Where is Russ Meyer when you need him?*

*He’s dead.
