E-Waste recycling

Calvary Church in Shadyside has an e-waste recycling event on Saturday, January 19, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

You can no longer throw out electronics with the trash, so this is a great chance to get those pieces recycled at no cost.

Additionally, if you need a hard drive destroyed, they will have a service available for $10 each

You can find out more at Calvary’s website.

Cyber Easter Sunday

Calvary Church, for the first time, will be live broadcasting the Easter Service via the Internet.

Tomorrow, the 11:15 a.m. service will be available to be viewed from anyplace with an Internet connection.  Look for me!  I’ll probably be wearing a blue shirt, but I won’t be able to confirm that until tomorrow morning.

Nominating Calvary

The PG’s blog City Walkabout has a write up about the nomination of Calvary Church to be added to the list of National Historic places, based on its architecture significance.

I belong to Calvary, and it is a beautiful church.  I’ve never had a chance to take one of the architecture tours, although I do want to.  A book that explains a lot of the beauty of the building is available in the bookstore, and here are a few links to learn more.

In the meantime, stop by any time, it’s a welcoming church in Shadyside at the corner of Shady and Walnut.

Bishop Katharine to visit Pittsburgh

The Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church will be at Calvary church tomorrow at the 11 a.m. service.  All are welcome to come out and see her as she celebrates and preaches.  Bishop Katharine is the first woman elected as presiding bishop (kind of like a cardinal, except there is only one for the country).  She will also lead a discussion at 1:15 p.m. tomorrow in the church nave.
