Gallery opening

A friend of mine opened a new gallery last Thursday and I had the opportunity to check it out.  The exhibit is a collaboration between Nicholas O’Donoughue and Kate Cole.

Nick is a photographer, the two sets featured are Muted and Vibrant.  Kat’s pieces are titled Bits and Pieces of a Place. All three collections come together to take on the view of non-natives of Pittsburgh’s landscape.

Kat is a craftswoman and her pieces are really intricate and pretty awesome.  Between her pieces are the two sets of photos from Nick, all playing off one another.

Now here’s my deal, I don’t really like photography.  I can appreciate how difficult it is to take such awesome pictures (and they are very impressive), but I just don’t get it.  However, that being said, it was nice to go a show where I could talk with with the artists and get a better appreciation for the medium.  I still may not get it, but I’m working on at least appreciating it more!

If you want to check it out, the gallery is in the main building of CCAC Boyce Campus.  Head in the south (main) entrance and turn right.
